Cheese Drop Biscuits
Ingredients
- 3 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/4 cup Vegetable Shortening
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 4 ounces Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 4 tablespoons Butter
- Cooking Spray
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425F
- In a medium mixing bowl combine flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar and garlic powder in a mixing bowl
- Cut in shortening using a pastry blender
- Add the milk to the mixture
- Stir until completely blended
- Add cheese to the mixture
- Stir until completely blended
- Liberally spray the baking sheet with cooking spray
- Drop batter onto the baking sheet to make 15 biscuits
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes
- Remove the biscuits from the oven
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds
- If not entirely melted, run the microwave for another 10 seconds
- Repeat until the butter is entirely melted
- Brush the biscuits with the melted butter
- Return the biscuits to the oven for 5 minutes
- Serve
