We’ve always had a traditional Flag Cake for dessert for our patriotic holidays here at Hectic Manor. I figured it was time to do the same thing with the entree, so I came up with this American Flag Pizza.
With just six ingredients it doesn’t get a whole lot easier than this!
American Flag Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 Prepared Pizza Curst
- 6 ounces Pepperoni
- 6 ounces Sliced Mozzarella Cheese
- 2 ounces Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 4 ounces Spaghetti Sauce
- 2 ounces Sliced Black Olives
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450F
- Put the prepared pizza crust onto a pan for easier handling in the oven
- Spread the spaghetti sauce evenly over the pizza crust
- Spread the shredded mozzarella cheese into a small area in the upper right part of the pizza. This will be the background base for the "stars"
- Arrange the sliced olives on top of the shredded mozzarella to create the field of stars
- Slice the mozzarella cheese into thin 6 thin strips per slice. To make this easier and ensure uniform strips, stack the slices of cheese prior to cutting
- Arrange the sliced cheese into the strips across the pizza, overlapping the cheese slightly along the stripe
- Cut the pepperoni in half and carefully arrange the pieces between the mozzarella stripes
- Put the pizza into the oven and bake for 8 minutes
- Check the pizza. If it's not done, bake for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to cool for 5 minutes.
- Slice the pizza and serve.
