Green Beans with Bacon
Ingredients
- 1 pound Green Beans
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 4 slices Bacon
- 2 teaspoons Black Pepper
- 4 cups Water
Instructions
- If using fresh green beans, cut off the ends, then cut the beans in half
- If using frozen green beans, let them defrost about 30 minutes
- Heat the water in a medium pot over high heat until it's boiling
- Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces
- Add the salt and green beans to the water
- Boils for 5 minutes
- Drain the beans and set aside
- In a medium saucepan, cook the bacon pieces over medium heat for 7 minutes, stirring frequently
- Don't burn the bacon, it may cook faster, depending on fat content
- Drain the bacon, reserving about two tablespoons of the fat
- Return the bacon, fat, and green beans to the saucepan
- Saute the mixture for 2 minutes, stirring frequently
- Sprinkle the pepper over the beans
- Serve
