Cheese Drop Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 3 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Shortening
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 4 ounces Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • Cooking Spray

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425F
  • In a medium mixing bowl combine flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar and garlic powder in a mixing bowl
  • Cut in shortening using a pastry blender
  • Add the milk to the mixture
  • Stir until completely blended
  • Add cheese to the mixture
  • Stir until completely blended
  • Liberally spray the baking sheet with cooking spray
  • Drop batter onto the baking sheet to make 15 biscuits
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes
  • Remove the biscuits from the oven
  • Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds
  • If not entirely melted, run the microwave for another 10 seconds
  • Repeat until the butter is entirely melted
  • Brush the biscuits with the melted butter
  • Return the biscuits to the oven for 5 minutes
  • Serve
