Carmelized Onions

Ingredients

  • 4 medium Onion
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Water

Instructions

  • Cut both the top and root end off the onion
  • Slice the onion in half
  • Remove the outer skin
  • Slice each half of the onion into 6 to 8 segments (cutting from one side to the other)
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat
  • Add the onion slices the preheated skillet
  • Stir the onions to coat them will oil
  • Spread the onions evenly across the pan
  • All the onions to cook for 10 minutes without disturbing them
  • Sprinkle the salt over the onions
  • Stir the onions and redistribute them in the pan
  • Add the water to the pan
  • Let the onions cook for another 45 minutes undisturbed
  • Remove the onions from the pan, scraping all the browned bits from the pan
  • Serve
